Making Tax Digital (MTD) is HMRC's programme requiring businesses to keep digital records and submit tax information quarterly rather than annually. From 6 April 2026, it is mandatory for sole traders and landlords with gross income over £50,000. The threshold drops to £30,000 in April 2027 and £20,000 in 2028. If your combined self-employment and property income exceeds these thresholds, you must comply. We can assess your MTD status for free.
